Brian Clapp of Napier took out the Gisborne Motors Ford Poverty Bay Men's Amateur Open. The 22 year old ex Gisborne golfer defeated local hope Simon Jeune in the 18 hole matchplay final. Clapp used to cycle 40 kilometres to play golf at Tolaga Bay when his parents worked at Turihaua Station. Such determination is what champions are made of.
