RUGBY LEAGUE

Awapuni Stadium was the scene of a tough Inter-Provincial encounter between Northland and Lion Red Gisborne-East Coast. A good crowd attended the match in spite of the fact that Western Samoa was playing the All Blacks at the same time. The half time score was 28-6 to the boys from the North and although the local team tried everything to peg it back, Northland won decisively 56-16.
