Thomas and Julia Smiler with immediatte family (4 generations present) Approximately 400 friends and family attended ther 50 th wedding anniversary celebrations. Thomas and Julia were married April 30 th 1943. Well known writer Witi Ihormaera [Ihimaera] is the son of Thomas and Julia.

To celebrate Walk Week, S4 at Te Hapara School set out for Kaiti Hill, through the Adventure Playground, along Waikanae beach, across the Gladstone Road Bridge and up Ranfurly Road. Pictured after the Walk are the pupils, teachers and parent helpers.
