YOUNG WRITER OF THE MONTH

Briar Barry of Wainui School was chosen as McDonald's Young Writer of the Month for her story "Fido and Puppies Got Stuck in the Mud" which was published in The Gisborne Herald on The Children's Page.

MUSEUM TAPESTRIES

Members of the Gisborne and Hawkes Bay Embroiderers Guild produced two panels to be displayed at the Waiouru Army Museum.The two panels were blessed in the Wairoa RSA lounge.

Treble Court Photography

Gisborne photographer Kerry Fox was the 1993 winner of the Agfa-Listener Timeframe competition, with her photograph of a dog called Stumpy. Her photo, one of 12,000 prints entered, won the Animal Category and was judged overall winner. Stephen Jones of Treble Court Photos holds the award winning print with Tony and Kerry Fox (holding her prize-$10,000 of travel and accommodation) and daughters Alicia and Gabrielle.

Busking, musical interludes, garden parties and public donations were some of the ways the Gisborne Youth Orchestra raised the money for their Marlborough and Nelson Music Tour.
