Car Trial!

The annual Keith Mullooly Economy Run staged by the Gisborne Car Club attracted an excellent number of both club and trade sponsored vehicles. The 100 mile (or 209.17km) run went from Gisborne to Frasertown and back over the Whareratas on September 21.

Hans and Pat Kwack in their Sheridan-Owen sponsored Datsun were first overall and first in class (1100-1500cc) with 54.7 mpg. At right is one of the organisers, Merv Merritt.

Pushing his Torana onto the weighbridge is G. Nairn of Wairoa who was sponsored by Baillie Farmers Motors. He got 37.6mpg.

Ready to start are H and K. Hughes in their Galant. They got 41.1mpg.

Assistant Alvin Ferguson stands by as Michael Fouhy prepares to start in his Bloggs sponsored Peugeot. He got 29.4mpg.

Stuart Patrick obtained 39.3mpg from his Datsun 1600 on the run.
