J & J Are Champs

John McGaveston and Jock Harrison combined most successfully to take the pairs' title for Gisborne at the North Island Indoor Bowls Championships, The tournament was held over Queen's Birthday Weekend and attracted 600 bowlers from all parts of the island.

On the local scene two groups have been away to bowling tournaments.

Pairs' runners-up are former Gisborne-ites Bruce and Kaye Easton.

The fours' title went to Whakatane's Bay of Plenty team of Peter Clark (skip), Bob Rickard (3), Peter McGregor (2) and Ross Roycroft (lead).
