Sportsmen's Dinner

Once again the Crippled Children Society benefitted handsomely from the annual Sportsmen's Dinner held to raise funds for the society. The Sportsman of the Year Trophy, donated by Leopard Breweries, was awarded to ace polo player David Kirkpatrick, captain of the Poverty Bay Team and a member of the New Zealand team. The Round Table Sports Administrator Award was presented to Jim Burton for his services to Archery. The talks and stories of top national sportsmen Graeme Lawrence (motor racing), Phil Skoglund (bowls) and Colin Meads (rugby) were also highlights of the evening.
