It Was Oz It Was!

There certainly appears to be a wealth of theatrical talent in Gisborne and the young actors and acresses at the Elgin School are right amongst it. They staged a very polished production of "The Wizard Of Oz" and the profits from the two performances are going towards the replacement of musical instruments.

Taking the main parts are Jacqueline Reid as Dorothy and Andrew Dijkstra as the Wizard.

Figuring in the roles of Uncle Henry and Aunt Em are Danny Morrison and Morag Wilson.

Later in the action Dorothy has the misfortune to meet up with the Wicked Witch (Sheree Taewa) and her cohorts, The Winkies. They are, from left, in front, Glen Murray, Kirsten Paltridge and Kathleen Roberts. At back, Erin Baskville, Whenu Davies, Steven Hampton and Karen Joseph.

The roles of Lion, Scarecrow, Tin Woodman and Soldier were played by Evelyn Harrison, Craig McLean, Gary Reid and Karl Duigan respectively.

The very ample musical backing came from this polished group. In the orchestra are Karen Scott, Lynette Hill, Lynette Rowe, Linda Griggs, Lyndal Scott, Linda Trueman, Maxine Brown, Patricia Clapperton, Michell Brown, Jeanette McLatchie and Florence Brown.
