A Whole Lotta Junk!

A large and ingenious number of entries came forward for the combined Radio Gisborne and City Council sponsored Junk Sculpture competition. Sculptures had to be made out of pure junk, rubbish or litter, and a lot of obvious thought had gone into the entries.

First prize went to Mrs Christine Houlahan who received her prize from the Mayor. From left, Mayor Harry Barker, Christine Houlahan, councillor Frances Gregory (Litter Campaign Liaison) and announcer Bruce Bum.

David Harrison, 15 MacDonald Street, won the $50 prize for the litter bin slogan competition and this was also presented by the Mayor.
