The Wilds Of Waimata
A very successful pioneer camp was held by members of the St David's and Kelvin Scout groups, the Kaiti Sea Scouts and the Te Hapara Air Scouts, in the Waimata Valley. A variety of pioneering activities were conducted over the weekend as well as setting up ideal camps.

The weekend activities included
The building of a stilt tower. Each side is made up separately on the ground then raised by ropes and joined together to form the structure.
The camp chief, Scout leader Colin Twyman, congratulates St David's patrol leader Stuart McKenzie on gaining the axe which is awarded for the highest points in camp standards.
Building and using of a flying fox provided an interesting couple of hours for some of the Scouts.
No weekend camp would be complete without a camp fire!
