Only Three Points
A series of unfortunate kicks at goal by Bill Mabey (having an off day) meant the difference between winning and losing in the game against Australia. At Rugby Park the Combined Poverty Bay-East Coast team lost by only three points, the final score being 22-19. An exceptionally large crowd turned out for the game.
Captain Ian Kirkpatrick charges across the line to score Combined's first try. Australia's Russell Fairfax makes little impression on the big man as he tries to stop him.
