yippee!
The whole of the afternoon programme in the ring was given over to buckjumping and steer-riding. Although some splendid exhibitions were given, many of the public who could attend only in the afternoon were disappointed that they had missed the greater variety of entertainment offering in the morning.
The appearance of Warwick Steggall, Dominion champion rodeo rider, and Peter Lambert, runner-up to Steggall, added interest to the programme. Steggall, during his re-ride, won the buckjumping contest. "Melody" Jones was in second place, and Bill Dolan third.

Steer-Riding Winners. Winners of the open competition were (left to right), A. C. Jones 1, S. Bull 2, M. V. Hawthorne 3, and J. Attrill 4.
Novice winners were P. M. Gentry 1, S. Cook 2, and A. McGregor 3.
There was a large entry for the tyre race. Eager competitors are shown lined up for the start, and coming up the straight.
Much merriment was caused by the "egg and spoon" race, in which the eggs were balloons and the spoons were shovels.
