The Hard Ride

The exciting but hard riding sport of motor cycle scrambling made its first public appearance in Gisborne, recently. A moto-cross event was held on the dunes, near Muriwai Beach, by the Gisborne Motor Cycle Sports Club, and the meeting drew a large crowd of spectators. Rain prior to the meet provided some tricky patches to give variety to the track. Riders from Bay of Plenty clubs also attended.

Max Barrington on his Suzuki 250 makes a striking picture as he takes off from a rise. He did very well on the day to win the open scratch race and two other events.
