Mr Arthur Toye, a long serving supporter of the P.B. Rugby Union, was elected a life member of the union at the annual general meeting, Mr Toye has served the union as player and administrator since coming to Gisborne in the late 1930s.

Ian Kirkpatrick is captaining the All Blacks on their present New Zealand tour. This top-class P.B. rep is also the pride and joy of his club, Ngatapa.

Unbeaten in her games during the recent Russell Grace tournament at Dunedin was Gisborne Park's Frances Pere who played at number one for the Hawkes Bay-Poverty Bay ladies'golf team. There was only one other unbeaten player in the tournament, Mrs E. Proctor, Auckland's number five.

Murray Douglas recently returned from a course at Outward Bound. He was sponsored by the Gisborne Rotary Club. Murray is the son of Mrs P. Douglas, 818 Gladstone Road, and the late Mr B. Douglas.

Mr John Burns has come from Wellington to live in Gisborne. He is the new administrative officer for the Gisborne-East Coast branch of the Intellectually Handicapped Children Society.

The Reverend J. R. Arnold, pictured with Mrs Arnold, has taken up his position as new Baptist minister in Gisborne. He replaces the Reverend Bullen who left for Upper Hutt at the beginning of the year.

Mr Gordan Harris has been re-elected president of the Gisborne Returned Services Association. This will be his fifth term of office.
