Wheelchair Ambulance Dedicated

The new wheelchair ambulance for the St. John Ambulance Association was dedicated by Major L. Daly at the Salvation Army Citadel on May 28 at a short but sincere ceremony. The ambulance, which cost $11,500, is exceptional in that it has a hydraulic lift attached at the back which enables it to lift wheelchair patients and people in and out of the vehicle with comparative ease. The project for the ambulance was initiated by the Aged People's Welfare Council. The money was contributed by the.Gisborne Social Group For The Disabled (which gave part of its legacy from the late Percy Bushnell estate), and by J. N. Williams Trust.
