All In The Preparation
As part of a social studies project the children of standards one and two at the Central School prepared and cooked a hangi. This age-old method of Maori cooking was studied in depth, so to speak, and the end result produced a succulent meal for the two classes.
David Marino and Janet Hovell sort out some of the pumpkins for preparation for the hangi.
Keeping an eye on the fire, which has the stones almost ready for the cooking are, from left, Sean Voyce, Robert Hopkins, Graeme Braybrook and Pene Kaiwai.
With plenty of cabbage leaves to pack in the food are Andrew Wilkie and Shelley Madden.
Observers Jennifer Robertson, Cherie Slade, Sally Packman, and Deborah Bates note all the activity.
