Hot Weather For Athletic Champs

A really hot day did not prevent good times and performances being recorded at the H.B.-P.B. Centre N.Z.A.A.A. provincial championships, which were held at the Childers Road Reserve. A full programme of colts', junior women's, pentathlon and marathon events were conducted throughout the day.

Roger Clark, who gained the most points in the junior section at the recent Hawkes Bay champs held in Napier, was presented with the Carmichael Memorial trophy by Mrs E. Carmichael during the afternoon.

The junior women's 100 metres was won by R. Strothers of Napier.

R. Smiley, clearing the last obstacle easily, went on to win the 3,000 metres steeplechase.

Miss J. Jones ran out a very easy winner of the women's 800 metres final.
