$5000 Reward

Total prize moneys of $5000 went to the winning competitors in the Watties 5000 golf tournament held on the Poverty Bay Golf Club's course in December. Star attraction during the tournament was international Bob Charles who, although he didn't win, drew a large gallery on each day of play.

Australian Glen McCully won the tournament with rounds of 70, 69, 66 and 69 (274). Charles was next with 277.
