Vintages Venerated

The large collection of vintage cars and the even larger crowd which attended the Gisborne Vintage Car Club's Cook Safari Rally attested to the veneration of the vintage car. Much care and attention has been lavished on these vehicles, many of them restored from nothing much more than heaps of junk.

This 1912 Cadillac was found in a Gisborne yard and will be restored by Mr Norman Parkinson of Rotorua. The car was the first model with electric starting. From left are Norman Parkinson, his grand-daughter Colleen Parkinson, Lionel Robinson and Robert Parkinson.

Dan Witters and his father, Mr Randall Witters, in this 1930 Austin seven. The car originally belonged to Mr Witters but now belongs to Mr Williamson, Christ-church.
