The Grandest Night of the Year
The Bicentenary Ball was one of the grandest nights Gisborne has ever seen, with the Governor-General, Sir Arthur Porritt, Lady Porritt, the Prime Minister and Mrs Holyoake, and the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr and Mrs H. H. Barker, in attendance. Two thousand dancers danced the night away in ideal surroundings. Additional photographs to those printed in our Souvenir Issue appear in these pages.
