Hockey Princess 1969 is Helen Napier, Karamu High School (Hastings). Helen is pictured with Mrs Margaret Dowrick, Tongariro High School, who was the main judge for the contest. The girls were judged on personality, appearance, and how well they supported hockey.

Of interest to every girl was the make-up demonstration by members of Bryan's Pharmacy. Pictured are Beverley Bodle (Bryan's), Mary Evans (Girls' High School team), Bruce Burn (2ZG), and Mrs Nell Beattie (Bryan's). A fashion parade was staged by Day-n'-Dance.
