New Record On Sealed Road
The sealing of the road on Holden's Hill has given the Gisborne Car Club a new and different type of surface on which to stage its hill climbs. The March hill climb, the first over the new stretch, saw some good performances and a new record created.
Stephen Clare in his newly built Formula V sweeps up round a bend about midway along the seven-tenths of a mile track and, left, carries on to record the fastest time of the day, and create a new record of 48 seconds.
Dein Ferris won the 1100-1500cc modified class in his Cortina GT
The second fastest time of day went to Jay Scammell in his Mini-Cooper. He also won the 1100-1500cc standard class.
