John Russell and Allan Hughes of the Te Hapara Adventure Scouts, inspect the canoe used by Allan in the 7 day, 90-mile canoeing trip down the Wanganui River from Taumarunui to Pipiriki recently. About 40 Scouts took part under the leadership of 6 instructors from the N.Z. Canoeing Association. The course lasted 9 days in all, the first two being spent in teaching the Scouts how to handle a canoe. Pictures taken by Allan show different stages of the trip.
