Here And There

Jamie won his caps as a member of the First XV and the First Cricket XI, and was the winner of the presentation bat for the highest score (80) against Napier Boys' High. He deserves to do well at varsity and we wish him every success.

Recent visitors of Brian and Nola Hankey, 489 Aberdeen Road, were Neil and Elda Nilssen of Clear Lake, Wisconsin, U.S.A. , who, with Mrs Nancy Rogers, Otahuhu, and formerly of Gisborne, were touring New Zealand after attending the 2nd Marine Division pilgrimage to Wellington. Also in Gisborne after attending the Marine pilgrimage in Wellington with her husband, was Mrs Fay Harris, now of Billings, Montana, U.S.A. It was a case of one sister not having seen the other two for the past 23 years. From left: Mesdames Evelyn Stone, 218 Clifford Street, Fay Harris and May Neilson, Wellington.

Celebrants of their silver wedding recently were Mr and Mrs Harry Nunns. Formerly of Gisborne, they now live at 18 Fitzgerald Avenue, Matamata.

Winner of the Dromorne Linen Company's nationwide contest was Judy Webley, of 4 Andrew Street. The fabulous first prize, a honeymoon trip to Surfer's Paradise will be taken by Judy and her future husband, David Rutherford after their marriage at Easter.

Off to Wellington to Victoria University to study for his B.A. degree is Jamie Ogilvie, son of Mr and Mrs A. J. Ogilvie, 674 Aberdeen Road. An outstanding pupil at the Boys' High, Jamie was the school's Sportsman of the Year. He was 220yds and 100yds sprint champion, creating a new record of 10s for the latter event last year. He also took the 100yds title at the inter-secondary meeting' at Hastings.
