It Happened In Gisborne

The three children of this walking family pictured are David, Bruce and Margaret with the Samoyed dog, Sal.

Trucks were on the job where the approach for the city end was pushed 200ft out into the river to make for a much shorter new bridge. Part of the old bridge and some of the new embankment are shown from the Wi Pere Street end.

novelty touch to the holiday scene was the arrival of the Begbies, a Mount Albert family, who had actually Walked from Opotiki to Gisborne round the coast.
