Glamorous Affair

The Mrs Gisborne contest held and organised by the Beach Carnival committee at Waikanae, with prizes sponsored by Openshaw's New World Supermarket, turned out to be quite a glamorous affair with 18 contestants taking part. The judges had a most unenviable task and took a long time to reach their decision.

Eventual winner was Dianne Burch of Okitu who gets coveted sash from sponsor Jack Openshaw.

Second place went to Sandra Flemming. Other entrants are shown at right. Entertainment for the evening was provided by top group headed by Gerry Merito who also compered the contest.
