New Society
The Gisborne branch of the Good Samaritan Society was formed just before Christmas. Its object is to help others in both physical and mental need.
Steering committee for first 12 months is Ross Gregory (chairman), Mary Gregory (secretary), Dick and Betty Kearney, May Forbes and Colin Twyman. Others joining committee will be Erena Silver, Cliff Hogarth, David Rutherford.
Speakers were Canon J. A. Pittman, N.Z. Society secretary Eddie Hobson, Mrs Barker and Mayor Harry Barker.
Small part of gratifyingly large attendance at inaugural meeting.
