Out and About
Suffering the agonies (?) of conducting 2ZG'S breakfast session from a store window is announcer Stewart Stubbs aided and abetted by technician Trevor Barker. The stunt was to advertise Sleepyhead king size mattresses and took place in Humphrey's Gladstone Road window.
The lucky devils even had breakfast in bed brought to them by Riria Te Purei and Aratu Brown from the Coronation Hotel.
The Reverend P. T. Kapa and the Waiapu Archdeaconry Shield. It is to be competed for annually at a different centre in the Waiapu Diocese and is awarded to the pastorate gaining most points for a combined aggregate in a selection of sporting events. This year the shield was won by Manutuke. The carver of the shield was Mr Ngata Ruru of Te Karaka who is an ex-student of the noted Maori carver John Taiapa.
