An all-out effort is being made to raise funds for resurfacing the Poverty Bay Basketball Association's courts, building new courts and changing rooms and toilets.

With Gisborne as next year's venue for the New Zealand championships, these improvements are vital and the queen carnival now being run deserves to be a success.

The target set is $6,000.00, to be raised by the three candidates, Red, Green and Gold.

The carnival is being run by John Woolf (left), a campaign director for a firm of fund raising consultants, and he has the assistance of a local secretary, Mrs Noeleen Aylwood.

The programme for the five week carnival period includes a sponsored walk from the Chalet Rendezvous to the city, a cabaret, a parade of floats, a rolling-pin derby and a baby contest, with the whole campaign culminating in a Coronation Ball on September 9.
