Scout Training Course
A scout preliminary training course for the Waiapu area was held recently at the Scout Hall, Carnarvon Street.
Extending over the weekend of June 9 - 11, the course was attended by Scout leaders from the Gisborne, Wairoa and Napier areas.
Knotting and tying instruction was part of the course and to test the security of their handiwork, a frame is lashed and tied then used as a chariot in a race.
Here Ian Randon (Westshore), Graham Harris (Gisborne), Ivan Kemp (Puha), Pat Geddis (Westshore), and Walker Manana (Clive) prepare to test their chariot.
Model camp sites were constructed and Tony Scott (Westshore), Alan Bayliss (Gisborne), and Barry Short (Napier Trinity) put the finishing touches to their model.
