Union Parish Inaugurated

The inauguration of the newly-formed Mangapapa Union Parish took place in the Knox Church in Ormond Road on February 1.

The formation of a joint Methodist Presbyterian Union Parish is the first of such mergers in Gisborne and at the function the Rev. C. G. Brown of Napier inducted the Rev N. J. West as the first minister of the new parish.

The Rev. D. I. Keall acted as chairman and constituted the new parish, the Rev. D. C. spencer led worship and preached, and the Rev. J. C. A. Williams delivered the pastoral charge.

Ministers attending tha ceremony are, at back, the Reverends B. M. Calder (Wairoa East), C. I. L. Dixon (St.Andrew's), C. B. Herbert (Wairoa), A. R. Townsend (Te Karaka), J. C. A. Williams (Wesley, Gisborne), S. Dalziell (Te Hapara), and, in front, D. C. Spencer (Wairoa), D. I. Keall (Matawhero), N. J. West (Mangapapa) and C. G. Brown (Napier).
