Max and his Meteors

New Zealander Max Merritt with his Meteors, during a starring appearance on Australian TV. Max, who recently toured New Zealand in the course of a brief visit home, has become one of Sydney's top pop personalities since moving to Australia in 1965.

Sudden Change

Only a couple of months ago Maria Dallas (right) was an £8-a-week hairdresser in Morrinsville. Now she is a top popster, with a hit record to her credit, as New Zealand's leading girl Country and Western singer.

He goes simply by the name "Ja-Ar" and is among the fastest-rising pop stars in Australia. Virtually unknown on the New Zealand showbiz scene, he was a timber worker in the Bay of Plenty before crossing the Tasman.

Tommy Adderley, one of New Zealand's most versatile television, stage and recording artists, who has a long series of engagements lined up for him in Australia. He will tour there with the Mike Perjanik group, which has backed him on many of his New Zealand stage tours.
