With demolition of the Rowing Club building in Bright Street in the offing we hark back to the days when rowing was a sport to the fore, particularly on the Coast.

Four members of the Uawa Rowing Club who were second in the 1920 Maiden Championships at Wanganui were J. M. Lockwood, (3), and J. M. Penfold (bow), at back, and B. W. Lincoln (stroke) and J. S. Lockwood (2). J. M. Lockwood and B. W. Lincoln also won the Maiden Doubles that year.
