Champion baby at the recent Edward Murphy Hospital gala, eight-months-old Michelle Keane, is admired by her mother, Mrs A. Keane, and the judge, Sister H. B. Allen.

In a pie-eating contest at the gala, Stewart Stanbridge emerged champion with a total of five-and-a-half pies consumed in 15 minutes. Here he shows us the style which won him the event.

The old Gisborne Police Station on the corner of Peel Street and Childers Road is at present being demolished.

Mr R. W. McKee (left), assistant accountant at the Bank of N.Z. , being presented with a clock on his retirement from the bank after 44 years' service, the last ten of which have been spent in Gisborne, by the manager, Mr H. J. Dykes. Looking on at rear is Mr McKee's successor, Mr B. J. Eccleton. Mr McKee, who now resides at 8 Maki Street, will retire to Tauranga next year.
