Wairoa-to-Gisborne Relay
The Gisborne Harrier Club's third annual Wairoa-to-Gisborne relay race was held recently with a record number of eight teams competing.
Considered to be one of the toughest races in the country, it was won in record time by the Hawkes Bay A team, who clocked 5 hours, 51 minutes, 53 seconds, for the 64-mile distance.
First man home, Peter Irwin, of Hawkes Bay Presbyterian Club, coming up the home straight.
Ron Jones (Whakatane A) ran two laps to finish second.
