The Gisborne Photo News

The Eddris Corner

The other day we had a welcome visitor at "Photo News" -- one of the men who prints the illustration section of a leading New Zealand weekly. He had bought a copy of "Photo News" at a local bookshop, and out of curiosity and a desire to know us better, he came around to Aberdeen Road and made himself known.

Like many another, his concern was to know how it was possible to produce a picture magazine in a place like Gisborne. We showed him over our modest plant, in which mere bottles of chemicals are not the least part. He has 20 years of careful illustration printing behind him, while we can count ours on half a hand. So when he left us with this compliment, that the illustrations in "Photo News" left very little to be desired, we valued it highly indeed.

Not a month passes but we receive inquiries from some corner of New Zealand on this question of "how we do it". Actually we have done nothing but take long-established processes and convert them into our own simplified and stream-lined process.

The result seems to give satisfaction and pleasure to an ever-widening circle of readers, and that in itself is reward enough for any pioneering we may have done. We hope that in the future we may be able to maintain and improve on the standard so far attained.
