Big things are expected of Gisborne, and this page is just a sample of how big they can be.

Is a 140 pound bass trawled up by Mr Tony Bonica's "Mercury Belle" off Young Nick's Head last month. "Blondie", who appears to be holding the fish by one hand, is really only straphanging. In other words, this shot is no fake. (Photograph, Alan Gordon).

Mr Joe Oates, of Lytton Road, with some of his last season's tomato plants, which grew to a height of ten feet, and were prolific bearers. No fake here, either.

We'll be quite honest with this one and admit to shenanigans in the darkroom, so that Miss Nola Neale, of Rutene Road, looks the size of sixpence alongside this 381b kingfish she hauled in with her surfcasting rod on Waikanae Beach. No wonder that bass's eye is popping. This makes him look like a tiddler.
