The diamond wedding of Mr and Mrs G. Ansell, 8 Williams Street, was celebrated at the Barry Memorial Croquet Club's annual Christmas party. The couple received many telegrams, some of which were from the Queen, Governor General, Prime Minister, and Minister of Internal Affairs. The Mayor, Mr H. H. Barker, is pictured reading them, with Mrs Barker, at right.

Canon N. Williams, of the Diocese of Wellington, with his wife, and daughter, Sheila, pictured in front of his birthplace, the vicarage in Cobden Street, during a recent visit to Gisborne. Canon Williams, who is the grandson of the late Bishop W. L. Williams, who built the vicarage, has recently returned from a trip abroad.

At a function at Ulverstone, attended by members of the City Council and their wives, the Mayor, Mr H. H. Barker, presented retiring councillors with a token of appreciation. Mr W. B.
