Mr and Mrs J. (Keith) Johnstone, formerly of 11 Winter St., Mangapapa, who left Gisborne recently to live in Foxton, where Mr Johnstone has been appointed stationmaster. He has been in charge of the goods office here for the past six years. With them are their two sons, Geoffrey and Ian.

H.M.N.Z.S. Lachlan was again the centre of much interest when she berthed at Gisborne recently. Two boys on board her watch with interest the antics of a third who is endeavouring to come aboard in novel style. The Lachlan has been engaged in charting the ocean depths off the East Coast, and leaves next month for an islands cruise. Next summer she will be carrying out further survey work off the coast here.

Patricia West, aged 9 years, one of Gisborne's most promising young national dancers with the trophies she has won in recent years. Most of them were won in under 8 year classes in Highland dancing. Patricia is the daughter of Mr and Mrs A. E. West, of 601 Ormond Road, Gisborne. She has a collection here of ten cups, a shield, and 43 medals, which certainly demonstrates her outstanding ability.
