Matrimonial Occasions

Two well-known Maori families were united with the marriage at the Tokotoru Tapu Anglican Church, Kaiti, recently, of Hemaima (Jimmy), daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Nikora, and Tama-i-Hikitia, son of Mr and Mrs H. Te Kani. Pictured above are the bride and groom with their fourteen attendants. Maids at left are Miria Pewhairangi, Tahu Chambers and Rita Tureia, and at right, Moe Mihaere, Ngamoe te Kani and Ruaiti King. Mrs Mihaere was matron of honour. Groomsmen at left are Jack Haapu, Morehu Nikora, and Henare te Kani (best man), and at right, Kahutia Nikora, Stuart Leach and Akuhata Tureia. A bride and groom from Londonderry, Ireland, were united with the marriage on September 4 at St. Bede's Catholic Church, Ormond, of Anna Sabina Meenan, youngest daughter of Mrs and the late Mr Meenan, Londonderry, and Noel Patrick Harte, eldest son of Mr and Mrs T. Harte, Londonderry. Maids, left to right, are Noeline Clare (Gisborne), Shona Mullan (Dunedin) and Theresa Mullan (Matamata), who was chief bridesmaid. Groomsmen are N. Law (Gisborne), G. At Holy Trinity Church recently, Betty Rita Pardoe, daughter of Mr and Mrs S. Pardoe, Waeranga-a-hika, was married to Phillip Raymond Dolman, son of Mr and Mrs T. Dolman. Gladstone Road.
