In the Gardens

Gisborne's beautiful Botanical Gardens, bordering the Taruheru River in the heart of the town, are now "bursting into bloom all over" as shrubs and plants put forth their shy spring flowering.

Tidy paths and trim lawns aroung one of the central flower beds are framed by ancient and stately poplars.

Spring time is busy time for these men of the reserves staff whose job it is to loosen the earth round plants in a circular plot.

Daises and poppies make a bright showing in these beds, looking down towards the foot bridge across the Taruheru.
