A Wreck and a new Addition

Kirbys featured In the news recently when a truck driven by Ray Gilbert left the road in the Lee Valley, Brightwater, and crashed down the hill into a creek. How Ray got out alive and unhurt remains a mystery, for the cab roof was crushed almost flat. The spare tyre, projecting above the cab roof, is believed to have saved Ray's life. The picture above, at the scene, was taken by Ian Fraser.

A truck lost, but another one on the road. This new furniture van is the latest addition to ICirby's fleet. At left, as a comparison, is a van put on the road in 1938.
