New Steinway for Nelson

Nelson music lovers had two treats last month - the first being the National Orchestra's concert and the second the public recital of Maurice Till on the city's new £2100 concert grand Steinway, which arrived during the orchestra's visit. The piano, a magnificent instrument of gleaming black ebony, has been installed by the Civic Music Council in the School of Music. It was imported for the council, by Culls, Steinway agents in Nelson, and is believed to be the last of its type to arrive in New Zealand following import restrictions, Mr Till was lavish in his praises for it.
