Where is it?

This is a picture of one of the best-known roads in the Nelson province. If a standard lens was used on the camera, we're sure everybody would pick it immediately. But in this case, the photographer, Michael Rodwell, used an 800 millimetre telephoto lens, and familiar landmarks have all been telescoped. Where is it? Have another look. Got it? No? Then here's a clue. It forms part of a major raod outlet from Nelson. Yes, you're right this time. It is the Stoke-Richmond straight. That switchback effect is quite startling, isn't it. The picture was taken from outside the Stoke Post Office.
