The highest award obtainable by a Scout, the Queen's Scout Certificate, was presented to Venturer Scout, Rex Bolwell, at a ceremony in the Stoke Scout hall recently. At right. Rex shows the certificate to Mrs Heather Wyllie, his first Akela when he was a Cub, and to his mother and father, Mrs and Mr D. Bolwell.
Rex receives his certificate from the district Commissioner of Scouts, Southern group, Mr R. C. Sutton.
At the function was another Scout, Brett Mitchell, Nayland group, who received his chief Scout award recently. This is the highest award obtainable by a Scout, not a Venturer. Displaying it for us is his father, Mr Richie Mitchell, a Venturer Scoutmaster.
Queen's badges were also presented to Kevin Harte, Bevan Bennett, Wayne Redditt and Phil Jones by district Venturer adviser, Mr Doug Boyes.
