Big Entries for Talent Quest

So great was the interest in this year's 2ZN taient quest at the Mardi Gras that many entries had to be turned away. As it was, 25 contestants, individuals and groups, competed for the $175 in prize money. Winner was 16-year-old folk singer, Therese Simpson, of Nelson (top left). Second plaee went to the Woolly Dags Hush Band, of Christchurch (top right), and third place to Barry Findon, a Hamilton singer, (above). One of the most unusual entries was the 1812 Colonial Cleansing Company Jug Band, of Nelson, featuring Nick Corlett, Stephen Mori, Dean Cato, Robert Johnston, Martin Hucklesby and Bill Wansbone (above centre). At left is a section of the large crowd which followed the quest.
