The western end of Tahunanul Beach has been hardjhit by tidal waters surging up the channel into the Waiimea Inlet. Already many pine trees and a lot of scrub and sandhill have been flattened and inundated.

A $1 bicycle is handed over to its new owner during the auctions at the Lions Petticoat Lane sale in the old Montgomery's garage. The sale was a huge success and about $1300 profit was made. This will be suent on various projects being carried out by the club.

The Metropolitan Hotel, bought by Mr Ces Fox in 1962, was sold to Nelson Breweries recently for a figure "in excess of $150,000". In the last four years the old hotel has been transformed into a modern hotel. Extensive renovations have been carried out and a big new public bar and new bedrooms (upstairs) have been built on to the rear of the premises (from where this pic was taken).
