Introducing...

If you keep an eye out for city council trucks, you might see the smiling face of Norm ("Otis") Lawrence peering out from behind the driver's seat. Norm is a driver with the council's engineering department, and he's an Aussie from way back. Norm originally came from Sydney and has been with the council five years. He's married and has five children. Riding in the car, fishing and "mucking about with horses" are Norm's most popular leisure-time pursuits. He used to have show horses in Sydney.

From what we could gather, these two blokes spend a lot of time inside one of those little yellow tents one seas strewn about the city. What are they doing in the tents? Playing cards? Nope, Snoring off? Nope. Would you believe cable jointing? Yep. The two men involved here (without the tent, this time), are Clarrie Nilsen, a cable foreman, and Malcolm Russ, a jointer, with the New Zealand Post Office. Clarrie's had 22 years with the P and T, all of which he's spent in Nelson and on the same job, cable jointing. He's married, with three children, all of whom are working. In his spare time you won't see Clarrie. He goes bush, after pigs and deer and trout. Malcolm, on the other hand, likes sea fishing and "mucking about with cars." Malcolm has also been with the jointing gang of the P and T for seven years. He came from Appleby, and was married 18 months ago.

This very happy face belongs to Jean Moulder, a receptionist with the Nelson Automobile Association. Jean is married and has a son and three daughters, all of whom are grown up. Gardening and entertaining her six grandchildren are Jean's most popular pursuits.
