Soccer Player of the Year
The Nelson United and Nelson representative centre-half, Alec Mackay is Nelson's "Soccer Player of the Year". He was presented with the award at a cabaret evening in St. Mary's Hall recently. Mackay has been a consistent rather than a spectacular player and he was in outstanding form against Canterbury and for his club in the Chatham Cup South Island semi-final against the Christchurch Technical side. He received his trophy (above) from New Zealand and Nelson president, Mr Syd Guppy.
