Whitebait may have been pouring into the Buller River and other streams of late, but local bait fishermen have been having a pretty lean time. Favourite spot for fishing for the wee delicacy is along the banks of the Wairoa River, especially near the Rabbit Island bridge These hopefuls had been on the job for hours with less than a cupful of bait to show for their pains.
